I miss breakfast. I have been complaining about being sick of eggs for 10 years, but I’d give anything for an egg sandwich right now. My residency provides the basics so that we can make our own breakfast –eggs, bread, butter, yogurt, granola. But, you know what happens when a chef prepares every lunch & dinner you eat? In my case, I’ve become too lazy to make my own breakfast outside a bowl of granola. *sigh* This next Call if for your impressions of the light of day… not necessarily what you eat a dawn, ha. My kid has moved into his dorm, and my friends are waiting for the teary, heartbroken depression to set in. I can’t promise it wont happen, but if feels unlikely. I do miss him. Have you ever eaten a persimmon? I am headed out for a road-trip soon, and I am super excited about eating persimmon pudding in Indiana. Persimmons are typically cultivated in the southeastern U.S. but grow WILD throughout much of Indiana. Have you heard about the cannulated cows? Wow. Who knew there were cows with port holes? I was watching the Wisconsin edition of Weird Foods America. And a professor at UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science was explaining how they put port holes in the side of cows to study the “ruminant’s digestive process” or the chewing of the cud aka “ruminating.” Into my miscellaneous food trivia file THAT tidbit went; THEN, I received this Call from Ruminate Magazine.
