I often wonder what I would eat if I only had one meal left. I can’t wrap my brain around it, really. It would have to involve goat cheese…and dark chocolate …hollandaise …mussels steamed in white wine …and lots of garlic. But luckily, chances are good I have many, many meals ahead of me to obsess about and share with you. But, imagine that I ran across THIS Call for Entries for the asking me to illuminate my perspective about what I love.  I’ll give you one guess…

One Life is an international open call for photography that delves into the lives of the global community. You are invited to participate in the One Life Photography Competition. This worldwide search for photography seeks to illuminate your perspective: what you love, your travels, or anything that reflects your world and experience.

Photography is our way to capture the moments as we experience them. The One Life Photography Competition is your opportunity to share your vision with the world.

ELIGIBILITY: One Life is open to photographers from around the world!  They are looking for all types of photography including (and definitely not limited to): Fashion, Landscape, Travel, Candid, Digital / Manipulated, Artistic / Conceptual, Self-Portrait, Wedding and more!

AWARDS: The top selected artist will be awarded the Grand Prize:

  • $10,000 cash grant OR a World Wide Travel Adventure
  • A feature in PDN Magazine and on Artists Wanted
  • A show and reception during PDN’s Photo Plus Expo in NYC
  • World Wide Notoriety

Entering One Life is simple online!The public will cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award and the highest rated portfolio will receive $2,500 in cash, and international exposure via a feature with Artists Wanted and on One Life Photos that will be seen by tens of thousands of viewers.

Share your story with One Life Photos!JUDGING:  One potential Grand Prize winner will be determined from among all eligible entries received by a panel of qualified judges, based on a rating system that considers uniqueness, skill, and ambition.  The entrant who submitted the entry receiving the highest score, as determined by One Life, will be the potential Grand Prize winner.  In addition, selected exceptional artists will receive a digital camera package prize.

Eligible visitors to the site will have a chance to vote for their favorite entry during the Online Voting Period. The entrant with the entry receiving the highest number of votes, as determined by One Life , will be the potential People’s Choice Award winner.

Judge Jodi PeckmanTHE JUDGES: 

Jodi Peckman is the Creative Director for Rolling Stone Magazine and is responsible for overseeing the legendary music magazine’s iconic images.  She is a two time recipient of the American Society of Magazine Editors Award and currently lives in New York City.

Amy Kellner is the managing editor/arts editor of Vice magazine.  She recently co-edited Vice’s 10th annual Photo Issue.

James Morris is currently the Photo Director at Lucky Magazine at Conde Nast Publications.  Prior to that, he was the associate photo editor of Allure Magazine.  He currently resides in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn.

Conor Risch is the features editor of Photo District News (PDN) and PDNOnline.com. Previously he was senior editor of COOL’EH magazine, and an editor for illustrated book producer becker&mayer!, a division of Chronicle Books.  Born and raised in the Seattle area, he now lives in New York with his wife and bulldog.

Stephen Walker has been the Photo Director for Nylon Magazine since 2007. In 2008 he founded nextspacegallery.com, an online 3d gallery with an archive of 3d artworks.  He currently lives in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
