24th Annual Juried Show

The Annual Juried Show is the Contemporary Arts Center’s (CAC) annual opportunity to expose artists working in contemporary visual arts to a wide audience. This exhibition is a prominent showcase in the Southern Nevada region.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists 16+ years old

MEDIA: All mediums and disciplines will be considered. Any work presented at the Contemporary Arts Center must be a body of new or recent work executed within the past 2 years.

ENTRY FEE: CAC Members: $25 for 1st two, $10 ea add’l, 5 entries total allowed. Non-member:s $35 for 1st two, $10 ea add’l, 5 entries total allowed.

JUROR: Erin Cosgrove is an artist and writer whose sculptures, drawings, multi-media projects and books have been exhibited throughout the United States and Europe including one-person shows at The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Angles Gallery, Los Angeles; Printed Matter, New York; and Espace Croise Centre d’art Contemporain, Roubaix, France.

Cosgrove’s work has been included in shows and screenings at Institute of Contemporary Art in London; Kunst-Werke, Berlin; and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. She has received grants and fellowships from The John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, The Creative Capital Foundation, The Durfee Foundation, The Center for Cultural Innovation and other sources.

AWARDS: Over $3,000 in award money will be allocated by the juror.

SALES: All works must be available for sale, the Contemporary Arts Center receives a 30% commission.

Feel free to break, enforce, and comment on roles, boundaries, and expectations with this hot-topic theme. Remember: bring your fresh perspective to the table.

Water has a long history as subject matter for artists. It is revered for its beauty as well as respected and feared for its unpredictable nature.

Water carves our landscapes, making rivers and streams. It provides sustenance, recreation, and transport. Whether contained in swimming pools, bathtubs, or fountains, or freely flowing waterfalls, currents, and tides, The Kiernan Gallery seeks images of literal and metaphoric interpretations for Open Water.

JUROR: Jennifer Schwartz is the owner of Jennifer Schwartz Gallery and the creator and curator of the online project, The Ten. Jennifer Schwartz co-founded the Fraction Retreats program, and she regularly participates in portfolio reviews such as PhotoNOLA, PhotoLucida, Atlanta Celebrates Photography, FotoFest and others.

Jennifer Schwartz is originally from Richmond, Virginia, and has her BA from Colgate University and her MA from Georgia State University. The owner of a successful commercial photography business for ten years, she opened her gallery in 2009 to give Atlanta’s thriving photography community a venue to showcase the work of emerging photographers.

AWARDS: All images will be reproduced in an exhibition catalogue available for purchase. A Juror’s Choice and Director’s Choice will also be announced and both winners will receive a free copy of the catalogue.

SALES: Kiernan Gallery no longer takes commission on sold works. But, they DO still have incentive to sell your work. The Kiernan Gallery was founded by an emerging artist, and recognizes the importance of selling work; they believe that if artists are paying a submission fee, the gallery should not also take a portion of the sale. They do reserve the right to negotiate 20% in order to make a sale.

The natural result of my food obsession is that I have tried every diet on the planet, or so it would seem. One of the funniest (and most futile) was to use only 6″ x 6″ square plates. The thought is that you could fool your brain into thinking you had eaten a full-size plate of food while only actually consuming the smaller portion. international small art phenomenon
returns for the 6th year!

Help Rochester Contemporary build an exhibition of thousands of artworks made and donated by celebrities, international & local artists, designers, college students, youths, and YOU.

All entries will be accepted, exhibited and will be for sale to the public for $20 each (in the gallery and online for global purchasing) to benefit RoCo. Artist names will be revealed to the buyer upon purchase and all artworks remain on display through July 14, 2013. Sold Out artists’ names will be revealed online July 5th.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists

MEDIA: All artwork must be 6×6 square inches (15cm) or mounted to a 6×6 board, and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously

JUROR: Roxie Munro is the author/illustrator of more than 35 books for children. Her books have been translated into French, Italian, Dutch, Chinese, and Japanese. She also creates oils, watercolors, prints, and drawings, primarily cityscapes, which are exhibited widely in the US in galleries and museums. Roxie’s work is in numerous private, public, and corporate collections.

AWARDS: This exhibition will be featured for six months on the home page and will be archived forever. Each artist will receive a page on the exhibition featuring their art. There will also be a page with descriptions and links to one online venue, a website, blog, social networking page, etc. Melissa Wolf Fine Arts will also produce a print on demand hard cover catalog. Artists will each receive a complimentary copy and author’s prices for additional copies.

JUROR: Amelia Hankin received her MFA in printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2006.

She has exhibited at the Ellen Miller Gallery, University of Richmond Museum, Ridderhof Martin Gallery at the University of Mary Washington, 55 Mercer Gallery, International Print Center New York, the 808 Gallery at Boston University, Columbia College, The Xavier University Art Gallery& the RISD Museum of Art.

She received an artist’s travel grant to study Eastern woodblock printmaking techniques at Kyoto Seika University in 2005. Since then, Hankin has attended residencies at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, the Women’s Studio Workshop, and Vermont Studio Center. She has taught printmaking, design, and drawing at American University, George Mason University, and the Rhode Island School of Design. She is currently represented at the Ellen Miller Gallery.

We all have a pretty good idea of what the Seven Deadly Sins are. Some of us may have even committed a sin or two. For this call for submissions, Linus Galleries wants you to take a few steps into the dark side to represent all 7 sins collectively or whichever ones make you quiver the most. Bring us your unique, fresh, artistic take on this very classic theme.

For this exhibition, they are looking for art that evokes the many emotions and experiences related to or that are sparked by food. Textures, colors, shapes, and even scents can be represented in artwork and can create an intriguing palette.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists 18+

THEME: Although called a “Fantasy Art Exhibit,” there are no guidelines for the interpretation of the theme.

MEDIA: Painting, drawing, photography, digital, sculpture

DEADLINE: March 31, 2013

NOTIFICATION: May 1, 2013. Only artists that have been selected will be contacted.

ENTRY FEE: €30 (Approx. $40 US) for up to 3 images. Additional images may be submitted for a fee of €5 each, up to a maximum of 10 images (including the first 3).

JURORS: Final selections for the exhibition will be made by the Artists’ Committee.

AWARDS: All selected images will appear in our online gallery for a duration of one year minimum. The selected artists will have the opportunity to participate, under certain conditions, in a group exhibition in Paris, to be scheduled for 2014/2015. (TBD)
