ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all artists 21+

MEDIA: Open to a variety of disciplines are accepted including, but not limited to, visual arts, media/new genre, performance, architecture, film/video, literature, interdisciplinary arts, music composition & choreography. 

RESIDENCY DATES:  Jan. 23 – April 19, May 22 – Aug. 16 or Sept. 18 – Nov. 15 (10 artists per residency session)

DEADLINE:  May 1, 2018

NOTIFICATION:  August 15, 2018

ENTRY FEE: $40 USD. Artists who are interested in applying to all 2019 open call opportunities (January–April; May–August; and September–November) will be required to submit a separate application and application fee for each designated session. 

JUROR: Residency applications are reviewed by a rotating panel comprised of artists and arts professionals, such as curators, academics, and/or critics. The application review process consists of an online review followed by on-site panel meeting. The review process takes 12–14 weeks from the application deadline.

AWARD:  U.S.-based artists-in-residence (AiR) receive a $1,000 USD monthly stipend & add’l $500 USD travel stipend.  Due to the limitations of B2 visas (touring/visiting), international artists are eligible to receive reimbursement of qualified expenses, such as airfare, ground transportation & meals. Selected artists-in-residence enjoy generous sized, private live/work studios complete with kitchen & bathroom. AiRs have 24-hour access to extensive installation and production spaces and the Okada Sculpture & Ceramics Facility, a 9,000 sq. ft. industrial space used for large-scale sculpture fabrication. This is a process-based residency; there is no expectation or promise of an exhibition.

It has been a complicated day week, and my husband asked, “Want a drink?”.  I declined.  “Want a pizza?”  Um, yes please.  We’ve been married for nearly 20 years.  He’s got my number.  And does my comfort pizza feature fresh, gourmet ingredients?  Of course not.  I want what we have dubbed “cardboard” pizza.  It is much like the cafeteria pizza at your local public high school.  I know, bad for me.  Hush.  This Call is from a gallery that could be great for your career.  And YOU can be the fresh ingredient.  There’s no fee to try…

AWARDS:  If extended an invitation to exhibit artist/group acknowledges willingness to comply with agreed TBD scheduling, contractual obligations and other items or actions necessary to insure success of exhibit.

MEDIA: Open to 2D work on paper, any medium including but not limited to graphite, ink, gouache, printmaking & collage.

JUROR: Members of MUSA collecive

AWARD:  Juror-members will review the submissions to choose work for this summer exhibition which will run from July 14 to August 25, 2018. Additionally, five artists will be chosen to add artwork to MUSA’s in-house flat file; works from this collection may be included in future exhibitions.
