PLAY before EATING

Yes, I do want to eat dinner with crayons.  No, they aren’t for my 11 year old.  Trendy?  Maybe.  Fodder for the masses? Maybe.  Being different or combatting conformity for the sake of the fight alone is stupid.  Loosen up and have a little fun.  You never know when a doodle on your restaurant table covering could inspire an entry for this next Call.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) for their 19th Annual International Exhibit.  Didn’t know there WAS a colored pencil society?  Me either, but it is a great opportunity…

DON’T BE A CHICKEN

One of my favorite foods on earth is a simple poached egg.  I love farm-fresh eggs whose yolks are so orange they look unnatural.  I want ooey, gooey yolks, but the whites have got to be cooked through.  Left on top of a crisply toasted English muffin half.  They look a little daunting, but poached eggs rock.  This next Call for Submissions is a perfect chance for art publication, and the process isn’t daunting… even if you are a chicken.

SALTY BUT SWEET

I grew up with a single father from age 3 to 13, and it was a culinary adventure.  One of my fondest memories is of weekend-long motorcycle trips when I was around 8.  We’d climb on and hit the road.  I would freeze in the morning early-morning air.  My father’s solution?  We’d stop at every other golden arches we could find for french fries and hot fudge sundaes.  This next Call is a whole different way to celebrate two-wheeled freedom.
