ENTRY FEE: None

AWARDS:  Two complimentary tickets to the 2018 Benefit Art Auction, An invitation for two to the Artist + Member Preview Reception, A one-year Bemis Center Membership, FREE SHIPPING for your donated artwork, & FREE FRAMING (if applicable to your submission).

SALES:  Artists may choose to donate between 50% to 100% of the proceeds from the sale of their work to Bemis Center. Artist/Bemis Center split is based on the final sale price.  Artwork will not be sold below 60% of retail value. *Editor’s Note:  This is a great way to part with work that is relevant, but maybe not current, while developing a relationship with Bemis.  Think about it.

Food is like clothing, trends come & go, but the classics always look the same.  I went to culinary school two decades ago & the classics were lamb chops, Béarnaise butter, tourné cut potatoes & asparagus.  I went to dinner two weeks ago, and the same dishes appeared on the menu with a tweak & a twist.  Things remain, repeat & refine.  This next Call has three decades of history and is still going strong.  Take a look…

JUROR:  Mark Steven Greenfield studied under Charles White & John Riddle at Otis Art Institute, received his Bachelor’s in Art Education from California State & a MFA in painting & drawing from California State. He served as director of the Watts Towers Arts Center from 1993 – 2002 and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery from 2004 – 2010. Greenfield’s work has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States and internationally. His work deals primarily with the African American experience and in recent years has focused on the effects of stereotypes and racial politics on American culture. 

AWARDS:  More than $8,500 will be awarded, including three $1,000 Awards of Excellence.

Haggarty earned her MFA from Mason Gross, Rutgers University in 2011 and is currently the co-director of Ortega y Gasset Projects in Brooklyn, New York. Haggarty’s paintings & curatorial work has been reviewed & featured in Hyperallergic, Two Coats of Paint, Brooklyn Magazine, The New York Times, Maake Magazine, Art Maze Magazine, The Black and White Project (UK), Sound and Vision Podcast and Young Space. Teaching experience includes but is not limited to Rutgers University, Abrons Art Center, Princeton Day School, Philadelphia Mural Arts and One River School of Art and Design.
