FOOD

The biggest perk of this job is food gifts.  It seems when you guys trip across a strange-colored fruit, have extra figs from your yard or find a mustard to die for, I am on the top of your list.  Those gifts are loved & wanted; I promise.  This next Call, however, is all about the gifts you don’t want.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from the Non-Fiction Gallery (Savannah, GA) & ArtRise Savannah for The Gift You Never Wanted exhibit. $25 entry, 40% commission & a theme not to be missed.  I have SO MUCH work that fits this theme. How about you?

The Gift
You Never
Wanted

We are often given gifts that are unsightly, unseemly, or straight out of a nightmare. Often these “gifts” stay with us, sometimes for the better. The gifts we never wanted take many forms, both physically and emotionally. In the end we have to ask—are gifts given for the sender or the receiver?

For the exhibition The Gift You Never Wanted, Non-Fiction Gallery seeks works of art that explore the idea of the gift as a burden or a blessing.

CALL for ENTRIES: Jealous

HOOPS

I have plastic envy.  Hoop houses are sprouting up all over town as pre-planning for chances of upcoming frost.  Last year our first snow came in October.  Locally lots of folks protect their late Summer plantings from possible early frost while also giving them space to start seedlings in colder weather.  Once the ground is frozen, installation becomes a much more complicated project.  My house hangs on the side of a mountain.  The only flat space I have for a hoop house is my gravel driveway, ha.  Jealous of plastic –never thought I’d have that problem.  This next Call will hopefully make you the object of the jealous.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from Fresh Paint Magazine & the Jealous Curator for December Int’l edition. This mag is delicious, & rumor has it that, once again, one of our readers is being featured!  We are so proud to have them as sponsors.  Open to more than PAINTING

CALL for ENTRIES: 9×12

Learn more about the 9 x12 Works on Paper Exhibit from Fort Worth Community Art Center!PEPPERS
only smaller

My whole house smells like peppers & basil at the moment.  A recent Saturday trip to the farmers market ended with a huge surplus of these staples, but to prevent loss, I am dehydrated both.  Then I will grind, chop or crumble most of these into a smaller form for storage and use this winter.  This next Call could be an outlet for new work, but it could be an excellent way to compact and move out studies or older work.  I encourage you to contemplate cutting down your work.  Yes, I DID say, “cutting down your work”…

Check out this Call for Entries from the Fort Worth Community Arts Center (Fort Worth, TX) for 9×12 Works on Paper. This could be a great way to do a  little studio cleaning & resume building at the same time.  Take a look…
