ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists

MEDIA: Printmaking. Accepted techniques: intaglio, relief prints, lithography, silkscreen. Techniques not accepted: photography, monotype, photocopy, and digital prints.

DEADLINE:
October 1, 2012

ENTRY FEE: $25CND, or $25US or €25, payable by international money order to Biennale internationale d’estampe contemporaine de Trois-Rivières.

JURORS: A jury, composed of experts and artists, will make the selection amongst the proposed dossiers. The decisions are without appeal.

AWARDS: The Grand Prix de la Biennale, accompanied by a bursary of $3000 CND. The Prix Banque Nationale Groupe Financier, accompanied by a prize of $1500 CND.

The Prix du Québec, accompanied by a prize of $1000 CND. The Public Award will be attributed, at the end of the exhibition to the artist who has received the greatest number of votes from the visitors. This prize is for a value of $1000 CND.

The Invitation Presse Papier prize will be attributed to the foreign artist whose work is the most appreciated by the members of the Presse Papier workshop, the professional artist printmakers collective of Trois-Rivières. This prize includes an option for a working residency at the Presse Papier workshop.

My parsley is unhappy with me. I’ve been planting a summer garden for the past week, and my husband and I are getting it done in shifts. All of the plants that aren’t in the ground yet have been fairly tolerant when given a little sun, a little shade and a lot of water–except the parsley. I love Italian flat leaf parsley. It isn’t just a garnish, folks. I can’t make chicken soup or marinara without it, but my two parsley plants are protesting having their feet off the ground. The Art of Photography 2012

The Art of Photography Show is an established and critical force in the world of contemporary photography. Now in its 8th year, this presentation of world class photography is truly exquisite. The show provides tangible benefits to artists trying to break into the public eye. This well thought out international exhibition provides value to artists at every turn, from first-rate viewing in the judging process to exhibition and publication opportunities, photo industry connections and monetary awards.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists.

MEDIA: Images created via any form of photography will be accepted for consideration (i.e. film, digital, unaltered shots, alternative process, mixed media, digital manipulations, montages, photograms, etc.), so long as part of the image is photographically created.

DEADLINE: June 30, 2012 at 11:59 pm PDT (California Time)

NOTIFICATION: August 7, 2012

ENTRY FEE: $25 for the first entry, $10 for each additional entry. There is no limit to the number of entries an artist may enter. Artists who entered work in any previous Art of Photography Show or Art of Digital Show will receive a $15 discount towards the Art of Photography Show 2012.

JUROR: Julian Cox joined the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco in September 2010 as its Founding Curator of Photography and Chief Curator at the de Young Museum. After holding curatorial positions at the National Library of Wales and the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, Bradford, England, he moved to the United States in 1992 to pursue his career here. For more than decade he worked with the photographs collection at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, and then spent five years leading the photography program at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta. Cox has organized numerous exhibitions on subjects ranging from the dawn of photography’s invention in Europe in the 19th century, to contemporary practice in the United States. He has been a reviewer for the Atlanta Photography Group; Atlanta Celebrates Photography; Palm Springs Photo Festival and Photo NOLA.

Cox is the co-author, with Colin Ford, of the critically acclaimed publication Julia Margaret Cameron: The Complete Photographs (2003), the first catalogue raisonné produced of the work of a photographer. He is the author of many scholarly articles and several books. His recent publications include The Portrait Unbound: Photographs by Robert Weingarten (2010), Road to Freedom: Photographs of the Civil Rights Movement, 1956-1968 (2008), and Harry Callahan: Eleanor (2007).

AWARDS: $2,000 1st Place Award, $1,600 2nd Place Award, $1,200 3rd Place Award, $ 800 4th Place Award, and eleven (11) $400 Honorable Mention Awards.

SALES: Exhibited work will be available for sale (unless the artist designates certain entries NFS). The price for each framed print is entirely up to each artist to decide. The Art of Photography Show will retain a commission of 40% on all sales that occur during the exhibit or which occur later as a direct result of the exhibit. The balance will be mailed to the artist.

The LH Horton Jr Gallery is a non-profit art gallery located on the campus of San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California. The Gallery provides excellent exhibition opportunities, with over 2000 square feet of exhibition space, an extended 22 ft. ceiling with mounts, and over 1200 visitors to each exhibition.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists residing in the US.

MEDIA: The exhibition will present works that demonstrate the celebration and inspiration of the improvisational characteristics of Jazz – its distinct sound, history, and culture.

Entry is open to all artistic styles and mediums: 2D (painting, photography, printmaking, collage, etc), 3D (sculpture, ceramics, etc.), visual/audio installation, and interactive works.

JUROR: Jan Marlese, Gallery Director, and M.J. Wamhoff, Dean of Art & Communications.

JUROR: Scott Christensen‘s work has been exhibited in many prestigious museums and shows throughout the country, such as National Academy of Western Art, Prix de West Invitational at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK, the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, OK, National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, WY, Denver Art Museum, Kimbal Museum, Salmagundi Club in New York, Autry Museum, Salon d’ Arts at the Colorado History Museum.

Christensen has been a recipient of many honors throughout his art career including Arts for the Parks competition in 1991; Northwest Rendezvous Juror’s Award of Merit in 1993 & 1994 and the Prix de West Award for his painting “Wind River Ice” in 2000. This painting as well as 61 others is reproduced in Christensen’s 140 page book published in 2000 titled The Art of Scott L. Christensen.

AWARDS: First Place: $4,000, Second Place: $2,000 and Third Place: $1,000.

SALES: All work must be for sale. The Center will retain 40% of two-dimensional work and 30% on three-dimensional work when the piece is sold.

JUROR: Jay Fisher is the Senior Curator of Prints, Drawings & Photographs and Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs at the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA). As a curator, Fisher concentrates on 19th-century and modern French prints and drawings.

Fisher has organized exhibitions, wrote the catalogue on the prints of Chassériau, and directed a project to catalogue and create an online database of the BMA’s 19th-century French drawings, in concert with the Walters Art Museum, resulting in the publication and exhibition, The Essence of Line: French Drawings from Ingres to Degas. More recently, Mr. Fisher has focused on the BMA’s great holdings of Matisse drawings and prints. In 1999, Fisher became Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs and oversees the Museum’s curators, conservators, and registrars. He lectures nationally and internationally in the areas of his expertise.

AWARDS: $2000 Best of Show, $1000 1st Place, $750 2nd Place, $500 3rd Place, Three $250 Honorable Mentions, and $100 People’s Choice Award.

My food obsession strikes me as, well, obsessive sometimes. I cannot explain it really. As a kid raised by a single father, dinner was our time to hang out. Once I was old enough to cook (age eight), food became my familial contribution. As a teenager, food was comfort. And as a fully-grown adult, food is often my adventure amongst the many jobs that limit my time: executive, blogger, artist, musician, and last-but-not-least, mother. It is a passion, an entertaining and delicious escape as well as a quest for health. My desire to have you all enter and represent with this next Call has obvious motivation. Make me proud…

Food is vital to our lives, but its concepts and standards are as diverse as the culture that consumes it. What is the connection between food and art?

The Art of Food, calls for artists and writers who seek to explore representations of food, food consumption, food production, culinary traditions and emotional manifestations of this relationship.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists.

MEDIA: Open to all art media including the written word, traditional to contemporary work, 2D or 3D, using a singular method or using a variety of techniques and imaginative interpretations.

ENTRY FEE: $35 for nonmembers of DCAC and $25 for members of DCAC. Writer jury fee is $10 for nonmembers of DCAC and $5 for members of DCAC.

JURORS: Kathy Rennell Forbes earned her BFA in Art and Art Education at the University of Georgia. The artist has exhibited in many solo art shows and has won awards in local, regional and national shows. She teaches art classes in the Atlanta area and workshops around the country. Kathy works in watercolors, acrylics and oils. Her representational paintings are in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Australia and Europe, to include the French Olympic Committee in Paris. She is a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and past President and is a Member of Excellence in the Atlanta Artists Center.

Tonette Taylor Long earned her Ph.D. in British Literature from Florida State University in Tallahassee. Her M.A. in British Lit. and her B.A. in French are from Auburn University. Excluding seven years of graduate school teaching, she has taught at the college or university level for eighteen years. She authored a reference book, edited a collection of scholarly essays, and published a number of scholarly articles and reviews on Southern women writers.

AWARDS: Visual art: Best in Show $500, Award of Merit (1) $250 and Honorable Mentions $125. Writing Art: Best Literary Piece $150, Literary Award of Merit $75, and Literary Honorable Mentions $50.

Just a year or so after the 25th anniversary of my birth, I began my love affair with cheese. Well, more accurately, I began working behind the counter of a gourmet cheese shop. A world that had previously been defined by cheddar, Swiss and American cheeses now suddenly included choices between cow, goat and even sheep’s milk cheeses. Sometimes 25 years is the turning point.
