Buffets make me feel like a cow at a trough.  Admittedly, that probably has something to do with my own psychological issues; however, I am not a fan.  But if ever I was going to recommend that you go to a buffet line, I would recommend that you try one in Vegas.  From award winning chefs to 24-hour access, Vegas buffets offer virtually ANYTHING you could want.  Now if what you ate in Vegas only stayed in Vegas, ha.  This next show is in Sin City.  Take a look…

Learn more about the Visualizing the Black Condition Show!“Visualizing the Black Condition…” is a mixed media exhibition of art that draws upon the theme of the 2012 NCOBPS Annual Meeting, “The Black Condition within Global Shifts and Persistent Structures of Inequality.” Artwork featured in the show will draw inspiration from and address ideas about blackness in the Diaspora, e. g., the persistent vestiges and new manifestations of “neo colonialism”; the persistent needs and/or demands of black citizens and their allies for democratic governance and responsiveness, economic redistribution and equality; and the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, ideology, religion, and region, and how these identities serve as the basis for group identity, mobilization for democratic participation, civic engagement, social movements, and policy reform in the US and abroad.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists must be aged 18 +.

MEDIA:  All media except installation art.  See the prospectus for size limitations.

NOTIFICATION: January 30, 2012

ENTRY FEE: $30 per entry (up to 2 pieces per entry fee).

JUROR:  Reginald Pointer, MFA, Associate Professor (Foundation and Ceramics) is a ceramicist, printmaker, and multimedia artist in the Department of Art at Howard University in Washington, DC. Featuring social themes in his work, he has won numerous awards throughout his illustrious career. Juror will review all images and make exhibition selections. Juror will consider design/concept, workmanship, and overall connection to theme.

AWARDS: Selection for Participation on Panel on Art and Politics.

SALES: All accepted artwork must be for sale.  NCOBPS retains 25% commission on all sales made directly from the exhibition.
