Download the Prospectus from LBIF!JUROR:  Jeff Guido received his Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the School of Fine and Performing Arts at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.  Since that time he has worked solely in both non-profit and commercial enterprises all focused on the Ceramic Arts.

He closed his studio in January of 2003 to become the Artistic Director at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia. In his role as Artistic Director, Guido oversees the Studio’s Artist and Exhibition programs.

AWARDS:  Best in Show $250; 2nd Place – $100; Two (2)Honorable Mention $25 ea.

SALES: A commission of 33 1/3% to the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences is required.  All works must be priced accordingly or marked NOT FOR SALE (NFS).

I love things in small packages. For many of my friends it conjures images of little blue boxes from Tiffany’s. Yes, I realize that is 2 refrences to the same jewelry store in one week, and no, it isn’t a holiday hint for my husband.  I promise.  For me, you can just send little blue boxes of Mariebelle chocolates and keep the jewels for yourself. This next Call may inspire your own small package.

Check out this Call for Entries from Harper College for their 35th Annual National Juried Exhbition of Small Works. Small is all about perspective, but Harper College see it as no larger than 22″ at its largest dimension. That sure includes a large amount of artwork, so sieze your opportunity…

CALL for ENTRIES:
35th Annual National Juried Art Exhibition

The College’s annual national juried exhibition highlights work selected from entries by artists from across the country. The show typically features a wide array of media ranging from photography, prints, and painting to metal, clay, glass, and fiber. The Harper College Educational Foundation sponsors this exhibit.

SIZE & MEDIA: In its largest dimension, individual artwork must be no greater than 22 inches including frame if applicable. All media excluding
jewelry, film and video/digital video are eligible.
Weight limitation of 45 pounds. No work that requires special installation or instructions will be accepted.

DEADLINE: Postmarked by January 23, 2012

NOTIFICATION: February 27, 2012. Notification Cards WILL NOT be sent. Please check the website for results of the jury.

JUROR:  Aron Packer, owner and Director of Packer Schopf Gallery, will serve as the show juror. In September 2006, Packer joined forces with William Schopf to open their current space in the thriving West Loop gallery district in Chicago. Since 1987, Packer has mounted more than 200 exhibitions.  Over the years, his focus has shifted from folk art to predominantly contemporary art, curating what he considers to be compelling, whatever the genre.  This means art that is a little obscure, idiosyncratic, and reflective of the road not obviously taken.

Why is it that small foods seem more fragile and light?  They aren’t, necessarily.  Carrots are hearty root vegetables that are a staple of winter favorites like chicken noodle soup and beef stew.  However, slice them thin and ring a head of belgian endive, and I suddenly feel like I’m having delicate French food.  Size matters.  This next call for small works would be confirmation of that theory.  Take a look…

Learn more about the LBIF Small Works Exhibition! The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences encourages emerging artists & established artists to participate in the Small Works Exhibition. The purpose of the exhibition is to showcase small works that reflect personal vision.

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to U.S. Residents only, 18 years and older.

MEDIA:  2-D work max size 12” x 12” sq.  3-D work max size 8” x 8” x 8”.

DEADLINE:  November 1, 2011

Learn more about the LBIF Small Works Exhibition!ENTRY FEE:  There is an entry fee of $20.00 for up to four works. Works in series count as separate works if they take up more than 12” x 12” square. U.S funds only, payable by check, money order or credit card (MasterCard or Visa only). All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.

JUROR:  Michael Cagno – Executive Director of the Noyes Museum of Art in Oceanville, NJ.  Michael recieved his BFA from Rowan University and Masters in Museum Management from Seton Hall University.  He is also currently an adjunct professor at the Richard Stockton College of NJ.

AWARDS:  Cash awards will be announced at the exhibition’s opening reception:  Best in Show – $250, Second Place – $100, Honorable Mention (2) – $25.  Note:  Artists who win a prize and are not in attendance of the opening reception will receive their check by mail.

SALES:  A commission of 33 1/3% to the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences is required. The artist’s retail price should reflect this commission. All works must be priced accordingly or marked NOT FOR SALE (NFS).
