CHEAP DELICACY?

I consistently receive requests for calls with no entry fee, and I do post No Entry Fee Calls as regularly as I can; however, sometimes you get the opportunity for which you pay.   You may love ice cream from McDonalds (I love the caramel sundae), but don’t expect an exotic delicacy for $1.

This printmaking call from the Leicester Print Workshop called smallprint: big impresion is a great example of an international call, art publication, a selling exhibition, and a traveling exhibition opportunity all in one Call for Entries.

Here’s the Call:

Leicester Print Workshop announces a call for artists for smallprint: big impression; a touring exhibition of contemporary prints that measure no more than 100 sq cm (approx. 15.5 sq. in.).

Small Print Big ImpressionAll selected work will be featured in a full colour catalogue and will tour the UK continuously in a selling exhibition throughout 2011 and will also be available for purchase online.

Anne Desmet, Printmaker and Editor of Printmaking Today

Craig Ashley, Producer of Visual Arts at the mac

Irena Czapska, Printmaker and Manager at Spike Print Studio

Included in the entry fee is the cost of returning unselected work and unsold work once the tour is over, hence the increased fee for overseas submissions.

PRINTMAKERS DESERVE
TO EAT CHEESE!

We always want what we can’t have.  I want to live on blue cheese, but my family has explain that it isn’t really an option.  Printmakers want shows to enter…and it really should be an option.

As I have mentioned before, artists looking for printmakers’ call for entry make up a significant part of the readership of ArtAndArtDeadlines.com. They ARE hard to find–so when I run across any opportunity for printmakers, I like to pass it along.  This is a great opportunity for Gallery Representation for a printmaker…and you don’t have to be local.
