CALL for ENTRIES: Majestic Nat’l

mountains POTATOES
majesty

I’m craving purple potatoes.  Potatoes have become scarce in my house lately.  Paranoid about my family’s long history of diabetes, we are trying to limit our starch intake to see if my current symptoms can be controlled through diet.  Because we already cut out gluten, I don’t really miss bread.  We’ve never consumed a lot of rice & prefer spaghetti squash or zucchini noodles to pasta.  But oh how I miss the potatoes– the beautiful, majestic purple ones particularly.  I’m sneaking them in as the crust for quiche & pot pies, but the chips & fries & mash are all gone.  I have to reserve all things majestic for this next call.  Love this one…

Check out this Call for Entries from the Majestic Galleries (Nelsonville, OH) for the 8th National Juried competition & show.  $25 entry, beautiful venue, low commission & open to all media!  Take a look…

CALL for ENTRIES: Impromptu

Learn more about the Impromptu exhibit at the Darkroom Gallery!MENU,
s’il vous plait

I have weekly menus for breakfasts, lunches & dinners.  I tried being spontaneous by buying pieces & parts in the right amounts & putting it together on the fly.  But, I only made it one summer.  I have learned if I don’t make a plan & do the prep each morning, we end up eating lazy.  That means pizza or wings or burgers, and that’s not always the best choice–even homemade.  For now, I’ll keep my impromptu moments out of my kitchen and leave them to my art.  How about you?

Check out this Call for Entries from the Darkroom Gallery (Essex Junction, VT) for Impromptu.  Low entry ($24) & free matting & framing.  Love this theme…

Impromptu

To capture in an instant, an unexpected scene, the unscripted interaction, serendipitous magic in a single shot.

The medium of photography skillfully lends itself to chance.  In certain instances the medium is defined by how rapidly a single shot can be fired and, in turn, art created.

Just as an improv actor steps onto the stage without any thoughts or goals is his/her head we are looking for the images you took off the cuff that the very telling, thoughtful and insightful ones. Photographs that succeed because they aren’t staged.  Work that encapsulates a plot line, a “scene of crime” or unique character-driven exchange.
