CALL for ENTRIES: Metro Montage

Learn more about Metro Montage XIV from the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art!pickle & peanut
BUFFET

I spent my pre-adolescence & formative culinary years in a small Georgia town.  It wasn’t all peanuts but more a montage of scenes including fried foods, all-you-can-eat buffets, red-clay stained feet & knees, and demolition derbies.  But in hindsight, I think those scenes were more about my family and less about the place– Marietta, Georgia.  This next Call is proof of the fantastic opportunities & venues found in Marietta/Cobb County.  I am in love with this venue.  Please don’t miss this opportunity…

Check out this Call for Entries from the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art (Marietta, GA) for Metro Montage XIV.  Great venue AND it is open to all media.  Give this Call a look…

CALL for ENTRIES: Fact & Fantasy

Learn more from The Kiernan Gallery about the Fact and Fantasy exhibit!FOOD
fantasies

I never ceased to be amazed by what conjures a memory.  I was contemplating what to send to my 92 year old grandmother in a care package, and of course, food is always her favorite (genetics).  Sudden I was 5 years old watching her dump marshmallows & coconut in cocktail fruit and excitedly explaining all about the food of the gods… ambrosia, a fantasy food.  Okay, maybe the genetic predisposition has changed a little over the years, ha. This next Call wants YOUR idea of fact or fantasy.  But, I don’t think they are looking for ambrosia…

Check out this Call for Entries for Fact & Fantasy from The Kiernan Gallery (Lexington, VA).  In addition to having a low entry fee, they hold a special place in our hearts for being one of our sponsors as well.  Tell them we said “thank you”…

Fact & Fantasy

Photographers have a wonderful ability to turn ordinary surroundings into an otherworldly realm. Optical illusions, chemistry, and the mechanics of modern tools, have opened new possibilities for artists to untether their imaginations. Artists exploring make-believe use their dreams and memories as subject matter. Their work distorts reality, making everyday objects and environments alien and magical. Photographers construct their own fantasies, creating alternate worlds that straddle the line between reality and fiction.  For Fact and Fantasy, The Kiernan Gallery seeks images that explore the unearthly and strange.
