PRICKLY COMMENTARY

There have been a couple of sites out there lately screaming about the dangers of free and low entry fee contests and calls.  I know that I get accused of being all hearts and rainbows, but I think there is enough negativity out there.  You’re smart.  Read the fine print.  Don’t refuse to enter because it is scary.  If I didn’t eat things that looked scary, I would have missed out on sea urchin yumminess.  And the world we be a less lovely place without sea urchins, trust me.  This next call can be entered for next to nothing.  I say… take a chance, but remember to read the fine print about retaining your photographic rights.

Check out this Call for Entries from the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) for their 19th Annual International Exhibit.  Didn’t know there WAS a colored pencil society?  Me either, but it is a great opportunity…

CASH for PUPPIES

When someone parts with their hard-earned cash, you can consider their purchase a compliment in the highest regard.  Ultimately, I cannot trust my first food sales because I suspect my puppy dog eyes were a bigger factor than the taste of my lemonade.  But many years later, my husband Jon and I were proud to sell gourmet hotdogs in a little downtown store front.  The poodle (a turkey dog with feta and red-wine cucumber relish) remains my proudest culinary sale.   This next call could result in the sale of your artwork, a high compliment that could leave you with extra dough for hot dogs!
