Road trip food rocks.  Even bad food results in a good story about bad food.  You can’t miss a burger at The Varsity in Atlanta or a frozen hurricane at Pat O’Brien’s in New Orleans.  But, don’t dismiss the hole in a wall on a back road with one blinking light and a frog legs special either.  This next Call will have you reminiscing about your road trips too.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from the Northbrook Public Library (Northbrook, IL) for their annual juried show, called Journeys this year.  The entry fee is reasonable.  There is NO COMMISSION taken by the show promoters, and this year’s theme will warm the cockles of your heart and get you read for the Spring art season!  Don’t miss this one…

With ten years behind them, they have grown both nostalgic for the journeys they’ve been on and full of anticipation for what lies ahead.  They look for art that is a sign post providing guidance for a unique place and time on your travels.

ELIGIBILITY: The show is open to artists 18 years and older.

MEDIA: 2 and 3 dimensional art executed within two years of entry date and not previously been displayed in the library.

DEADLINE: May 31, 2012

NOTIFICATION: July 31, 2012

Learn more about the Journeys Show at the Northbrook Public Library online!ENTRY FEE: Entry fee is $35. Checks payable to the Northbrook Public Library. A maximum of 3 entries per artist fee will be judged.

JURY PROCESS: Artists should be cognizant that the exhibition is open to the general public and artwork must be viewable for all ages. Pieces will be judged on artistic quality and execution as well as thematic relevance. Artists should consider the theme, “Journeys”.

SALES & COMMISSION: The NPL does NOT charge a commission for show participation. All sales inquires will be referred to the artists. Contact information, provided by the artist, will be listed in the online and printed show catalog to facilitate sales. The only sale to be handled by the NPL will be the purchase of the first-place award winner.

AWARDS: One (1) $2000 purchase prize, one (1) second place cash award of $1000, one (1) third place cash award of $500, and two (2) Viewer’s Choice cash awards of $200.
