Have you ever discovered a little something unknown to most of your friends and family and felt compelled to tell EVERYONE?  Me too.  Of course my discoveries are usually food related.  However, there are a significant number of galleries and curators that devote a portion of their exhibit space and time solely to Emerging Artists.

Check out this great Call for Entries brought to you by SlowArt Productions.  Emerging Artists’ work will be showcased at the Limner Gallery in Hudson, NY.  The entry fee is reasonable and prizes include both cash and publication awards!  Don’t delay…

CALL for ENTRIES:
EMERGING ARTISTS 2011

This is the 19th annual competition for gallery exhibition and awards. This exhibition is devoted to the discovery, introduction and promotion of emerging artists. The exhibition will be held in April 2011 at the Limner Gallery and is open to all artists working in any media. There will be a $1000 cash award and $2400 in publication awards. Deadline for submissions is November 30.

Learn more about SlowArt Productions online!ELIGIBILITY AND RESTRICTIONS: The competition is open to all artists, national and international, working in all media. All forms of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, graphics, digital and installation art, video, etc. are eligible. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Wall mounted works must not be taller than 96″ no wider than 120″.  Sculptural work must fit through a standard height, 36″wide entry door.

EXHIBITION AND AWARDS:  Winning artists will be featured in a group exhibition at the Limner Gallery, April 1 – 30, 2011. The exhibition will also be displayed on the Limner Gallery web site. There will be a $1000 cash prize awarded to one artist. One artist will be awarded a two page display in Direct Art Volume #18, Fall 2011 issue. Two artists will be awarded a single page display. ENTRY FEES:  There is a $35.00 entry fee for one to four artworks entered, presentation is by digital files, prints or 35mm slides. There is a $5.00 fee for each additional artwork above four. Details of 2D artwork count as an additional artwork. Sculptors may provide one additional view per artwork without cost. Artists accepted to exhibit will not be charged additional fees of any kind. Payments may be by check or money order payable to SlowArt Productions, or by credit card using PayPal.

NOTIFICATION:  Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than December 31, 2010. Results will be posted on or before this date at: http://www.slowart.com/results. Notification will be made via email and/or by mail with the return of materials in the SASE provided by the artist.   Read the notification page for details of the notification policy.

PRIVACY POLICY: Artist contact information (address, telephone) is only held for the purpose of contacting selected artists and is not preserved in any database. Entry forms are destroyed and data and image files deleted on the completion of the jury process. All artist emails are added to their future events announcement email list.  If you do not wish to be on the email list click the unsubscribe button when you receive the first announcement and your email will be automatically deleted.

All works in the show must be for sale. The gallery will take a 30 % commission on all sales. Sale price is determined by the  artist.  

Online Entry:  On line entries are via email or web post with direct html link . Email files must be in JPG format. JPG files when closed should be approx. 500K (1/2 MB) or less in size, when open approx. 8MB or less. Images may also be posted to a dedicated web page and a link provided to the page. Web page images should not be download restricted. Videos artists may also post on a personal web page or on YouTube.
