CURATOR:  Riva Lehrer, adjunct associate professor at the School of the Art Institute is internationally known in Disability Culture, as an active and influential curator, writer and lecturer.

She curated the Access Living Art Collection, the only public collection of professional work on the subject of impairment in the United States, and is co-chair of the Programming Committee for Bodies of Work.

SALES: WMG will retain a 40% commission.

Music (and dessert) are the cherry on the proverbial sundae at any meal.  I have had the privilege of enjoying everything from a jug band at a pig pickin’ to authentic mariachi while eating tamales on a recent trip to Cozumel.  But my favorite dinner music is the humming of my lactose-intolerant 12 year old when he delights in his favorite cheesy indulgence…pizza.  This next call wants to hear about the music that delights you.  Get to humming…

Check out this Call for Entries for the Musical Influences show at Studio 1666 in Vancouver, British Columbia.  This is another no entry fee in an unusual space; it is starting to look like a theme, eh?

Studio 1666 is looking for works of art that is influenced by music.  This can be interpreted many ways, and they are asking you to avoid the obvious and draw upon your imagination and push your own boundaries of what this means to you.  By drawing upon senses other than vision, the idea is to convey feeling through artistic means that evoke multiple outcomes.

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all artists

MEDIA:   Photography, painting, sculpture, design, multimedia, mixed media, etc.

DEADLINE:  January 31, 2012

ABOUT THE GALLERY:  This is an opportunity for a group show at gallery located just off gallery row and close by Granville Island.  Studio 1666 is Vancouver’s new non-traditional gallery space, featuring current works from both established and emerging artists who are invested in confronting and responding to current trends in art.  At Studio 1666, artists are invited to give voice to their expression by sharing their creativity and ideologies with the local community.  Their aim is to support this partnership by providing a relaxed space that promotes progressive art with the mandate of making it accessible.

  • Jpgs only 72dpi dimensions image should not exceed 1024 pixels on the longest side
  • Submit 1-6 images for consideration
  • For video/digital work provide links to website if applicable.
  • Files should be titled LastName_firstName_01Title.jpg
