I have a friend who hates cucumbers.  He once described them as “vile” in conversation.  Vile.  Everyone knows someone who dislikes Brussels sprouts or olives or grapefruit, but cucumbers?  They are so mild.  Is there a food that is universally loved? I can’t think of one off the top of my head.  I do, however, know an art venue that is universally loved– Waterloo Arts.  Maybe this one is for you…

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to 18+ artists residing in the U.S. or Canada.

MEDIA:    Open to all* 2 & 3-D media.  *Time based, electronic media, performance art, and installations will NOT be accepted.

DEADLINE:  April 2, 2017

NOTIFICATION:  April 30, 2017

ENTRY FEE:  $30 for up to 3 images

JUROR:  Anderson Turner received a BFA in sculpture from the University of AZ & went on to earn an MFA in ceramic art from Kent State University (KSU). He has served as a technical editor for the American Ceramic Society & the Publications Dir. for the Nat’l Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. He has edited & compiled numerous books as well scholarly journals about ceramic arts. He continues to make and show artwork & maintains a studio at his farm in Ohio.  He currently serves as the Dir. of the School of Art Collection & Galleries for KSU School of Art  & Art Critic for the Akron Beacon Journal.

AWARDS:  CAN Journal Best of Show $500; 2nd Best of Show $250; Honorable Mentions $100, Brick Ceramic + Design Outstanding Work in Ceramics $75, Praxis Fiber Workshop Outstanding Work in Fiber $75; and The Sculpture Center Outstanding Work in Sculpture: $75.  All accepted artists will receive a small honorarium of $25.
