CALL for ENTRIES: P/N 33

Learn more about Positive Negative 33 from the Slocumb Galleries at ETSU!

There are benefits to only having to feed two people again.  It is cheaper, and our menu is more diverse without a teenage palate with which to contend.  But it has also been an adjustment.  We eat a lot of leftovers because I still haven’t completely adjusted to smaller portion sizes. (Tip: One zucchini per person.)  Pros & cons, as always.  This next Call wants your positives and negatives.  Take a look…

Learn more about Positive Negative 32 from the Slocumb Galleries at ETSU! open & say YUM

I believe in food as medicine.  Like a lot of you, I have a couple of chronic health conditions that require medication, including cough-variant asthma. I have chosen to take the least amount of medication possible to suppress side effects –specifically to my voice.  Green tea with honey, cayenne & turmeric is loaded with anti-inflammatories that really help prepare my voice for the level of use I have to sustain.  The positive? I take fewer prescription drugs.  The negative? My tongue is always orange, ha. This next Call wants your positive and/or negative take for the 32nd year in a row.  Take a look…

When winter hits, my mood often turns darker.  But, instead of pizza & ice cream (okay, sometimes instead), I try to reset my nutritional routine.  I am always surprised how unexpected foods can trigger a change in mood.  Healthy fats like that found in fish, nuts, avocado are shown to improve brain health while vitamin D found in dairy (and non-dairy mylks) are a big help if I have been stuck indoors.  Spicy foods offer anti-inflammatory benefits that help with circulation and my energy levels.  Making a positive change in what I eat often helps me combat a negative turn in my mood when winter sets in.  This next Call is all positive.  Take a look…
