CALL for ENTRIES: New School 2

Learn more about the New School 2 exhibit from ROY G BIV! don’t mix my GREENS

300 miles from home, and we each wanted a salad on the go.  Google sent me in the direction of a grocery store on the next exit with a huge salad bar.  I came out with a traditional pile of mixed greens, spring peas, boiled eggs, carrots & cucumbers.  My husband came out with segregated little piles of beets, broccoli florets, roasted tomatoes & olives, a wonder of little bites not unlike antipasto.  Two schools of thought, equally valid.  This next Call simply requires a school.  Great exhibitions space…

EMERGING ARTISTS: Ephemeral Call for Entries

Subscribe to ArtAndArtDeadlines.com by Email!ArtAndArtDeadlines.com thrives on the idea of helping artists move beyond the Starving Artist Syndrome.  It does not have to be all instant oatmeal and ramen noodles, folks.  Although I do admit to loving ramen and all of the salty goodness.

Find a Show.  Enter a Show.  Eat.

We are not alone in our enthusiasm for helping artists succeed.  Take a look at this great call for ephemeral art.

ROY G BIV Gallery for Emerging Artists is currently looking for entries for Time-Sensitive, an exhibition held at The Ohio State University Urban Arts Space, located at 50 W Town Street, Columbus, OH 43215 from October 2010 – January 2011. Ola Ståhl will select the artwork. Group exhibitions may be submitted with a concept proposal for the space.

Roy G Biv Gallery

Time-Sensitive will feature artists who explore the idea of the ephermeral. Ephemeral artworks fade, disappear, or simply “end” due to the materials or time that they inhibit. The artworks in Time-Sensitive will explore the impermanent and the transitory, as well as disintegration and decay. These investigations will hopefully encourage momentary (yet lasting) impressions on the viewer.

About the Juror:  Ola Ståhl is a writer, cultural theorist and sound & text based artist based in Malmö, Sweden. He received his BA with First Class Honours in The History of Art, Design and Film with Professional Writing from Sheffield Hallam University, and his MA with Distinction in The Social History of Art and PhD in Cultural Studies from the Department of Fine Art, Art History and Cultural Studies at The University of Leeds. He is a founding member of artist collective C.CRED with which he has participated in several international art exhibitions and festivals.

Located in the heart of downtown Columbus, the OSU Urban Arts Space joins the university with the state of Ohio and the world, functioning as an arts laboratory for Ohio State faculty and community artists and serving as a professional launching pad for Ohio State students.

Roy G Biv Gallery!ENTRY PROCEDURE: They are accepting images of and/or proposals for single artworks, installations, and performances that deal with the idea of the ephemeral. Each set of jpegs must be accompanied by an image list containing the following information for each submitted image: number, title of work, date of work, medium. The image list must be in .doc or PDF format labeled with last name (ex. smithimagelist.doc).

Due to health concerns, artworks comprised of materials that attract insects and vermin cannot be exhibited. Materials must not be hazardous for indoor display, as all artworks will be displayed within the Urban Arts Space Lower Gallery.
