I’ve become a casual fan of Naked & Afraid (the TV show).  When flipping through the channels, I keep tripping across the reruns.  For those of you non-watchers.  Two people (1 man, 1 woman) that have never met who are dropped in a remote location for 21 days with nothing–not even clothes. I am dumbfounded by what they will eat.  If you’re hungry enough, I supposes giant crickets (maybe it was a grasshopper) look delicious.  Bizarre.  Here’s a Call for all things bizarre.  Maybe even crickets…

MEDIA: Open to media including: paintings, drawings, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, sculpture, photography & CGI works. Ineligible media includes: Wearable art, jewelry, artwork in frames.

DEADLINE:  November 4, 2014

NOTIFICATION: Approximately 2 weeks after the deadline

ENTRY FEE: $35 for 3 entries and $5 per every entry thereafter

AWARDS: Cash prizes, Awards of Excellence & Special Recognitions will be awarded to the top 3 & honorable mentions.

What’s your favorite edible flower?  Most of us have had a lilac or rose petal infused whipped cream.  But I want to encourage you to try a little Calendula in place of saffron or peppery Nasturtium salad.  Just remember that blooms used in cooking must be orgainic–no exceptions.  Also, be sure to wash them well to remove all traces of fertilizers like manure.  This next Call is all about blooms, edible or not.  Take a look…

I am fat obsessed–not with the fat ON me but with the fat IN my food.  In October of 2013, I threw away my weight scales.  I’m done.  My familial relationship with diabetes and my allergy to wheat has forced a reduction of many of the starchy treats I have always loved.  But, beautiful, luscious fats like butter and coconut oil have increased to help ease the transition.  As a result, MY figure is changing–from the texture and tone of my skin to slow but steady reduction of my double chin.
