CALL for ENTRIES: Heroes Surround Us

I want spinach

I want to plant salad greens TODAY, but my husband keeps reminding me that the snow is probably not over for the season and that it got down to 29 degrees last night.  I love planting salad greens because they are so temporary.  They are seeds one day and less than 6 weeks later they are on my dinner table.  I can replant, or I can plant something else.  This next show deals with the temporal nature of art and heroes.  I love this show…

Check out this Call for Entries from the John Michael Kohler Arts Center (Sheboygan, WI) for Heroes Surround Us.  There is no entry fee!  I love the temporal nature of this exhibit; I love the portraiture aspect.  I hope this is an exhibit for you.  Take a look…

piggie, piggie

I love freshly roasted pork. Roasting a whole pig is a specialty in the South.  We then gather for something called a “pig pickin”, where we pick at the pig.  Not kidding.  I love everything except the face.  I know from hence my food comes.  But, do I really need to look the pig in the face?  No thanks.   This Call is all about the face. Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from Art Labology for About Face. This entry fee is much less expensive than their first Call, and you know how I love portraiture.  Don’t miss this opportunity…

NARCISSISTICALLY
YOURS

I think if I were a fruit (I can hear you laughing… cut it out… I mean the fruit thing literally), I would be a pomegranate.  Red IS my favorite color.  My exterior can be a little tough.  My insides are a little surprising–sometimes sweet, sometimes sour.  How do you see yourself?  Never considered it?  Think about it now because this next call is all about self-portraiture.

Check out this Call for Entries for the Power of Self 2011 from Artist Wanted.  If you love portraiture as much as I do, this is an excellent opportunity.  The entry fee can be as little as $10, and the Grand Prize is a free life for a year.  Take a look…
