I have been a rule follower by habit, not conviction, most of my life.  I have spent the last 3 months trying to break that habit in preparation for a new life of freedom and food and felicity.  My current happy food is fresh-squeezed lime & cilantro over grilled peaches.  This next Call encourages you to find their space happy and free from the rules of tradition & custom.  Can you do it?

CALL for PROPOSALS: Solo 2018

Learn more about the 2018 Solo Exhibit opportunity from VisArts!one BOWL at a time

While giving a seminar on pricing artwork last week, someone asked me who AAAD’s readers are.  “Foodie artists, I suppose” to which she replied, “I like to eat, does that count?”.  Of course it does.  I’ve had days, weeks & months that I have unintentionally boycotted cooking, recipes or any ingredient more complicated than cereal.  Seriously, folks, just eat.  Sometimes you can, sometimes you can’t –both art & food.  If your art is ready, this next Call is a great next step…

Check out this Call for Proposals from VisArts (Rockville, MD) for 2018 Solo Exhibits at the Gibbs Street Gallery.  There is a 2nd venue restricted to mid-Atlantic as well.  For those of you ready to take this step, this is a well-sized venue for a solo exhibit.  Take a look

You can always find chickpeas in my cabinet.  Be they canned or dried, they are a go-to item that has so many uses –from toasted finger food in the spring, to protein-rich soups in winter.  Then there’s hummus, of which I never tire.  Chickpeas even make a tasty addition to sweet-infused trail mix. I appreciate the versatility.  This next Call awards artists from a wide variety of media.  And what’s more versatile than a cash award?  Nothing.  Take a look…
