“Pay attention to the things that are important.” Elizabeth Busey

Be careful not to let yourself be distracted from the things that really matter to you by the face value of current events.  The linocuts from today’s AAAD Artist of the Day, Elizabeth Busey, are a timely reminder that the planet upon which we are all spinning through the universe requires our attention, our protection.  Pay attention.

Contemplate the beauty of the natural world with the work of today’s

Today’s AAAD Artist of the Day, Evla Vlašičová, is a self-taught photographer.  But, after a recent house fire, Evla finds herself without a darkroom.  I find that creative expression is a bit like a trickle of water in that when it encounters an obstacle, it will always find an alternate path –just as Evla has found the art of the linocut.  You won’t find her on social media, but you can watch a great documentary about her creative process here.

PRINTMAKERS DESERVE
TO EAT CHEESE!

We always want what we can’t have.  I want to live on blue cheese, but my family has explain that it isn’t really an option.  Printmakers want shows to enter…and it really should be an option.

As I have mentioned before, artists looking for printmakers’ call for entry make up a significant part of the readership of ArtAndArtDeadlines.com. They ARE hard to find–so when I run across any opportunity for printmakers, I like to pass it along.  This is a great opportunity for Gallery Representation for a printmaker…and you don’t have to be local.
