CALL for ENTRIES: Kingdom

Learn more about the Kingdom exhibit from Manifest Gallery!wild FOOD

I live less than a mile from one of the boundaries of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  I also live only a mile from downtown; however, my town has a tiny population of around 3500 residents.  My location has a profound impact on the food I eat.  The availability of exotic foods is relatively limited unless you count game meats which are prevalent even in upscale restaurants.  I keep a clean grill because predators are a REAL, not imagined, threat.  I don’t hike or cook in the woods alone because black bears do eat people occasionally.  Where I live defines what I eat and my relationship with the “wild kingdom.”  This next Call wants to know all about YOUR relationship with animals.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from Manifest Gallery (Cincinnati, OH) for Kingdom, an international exhibition exploring the animal in art.  You can enter for as little at $12.  Don’t miss this opportunity…

CALL for ENTRIES: Figurative Work

me up

I am fat obsessed–not with the fat ON me but with the fat IN my food.  In October of 2013, I threw away my weight scales.  I’m done.  My familial relationship with diabetes and my allergy to wheat has forced a reduction of many of the starchy treats I have always loved.  But, beautiful, luscious fats like butter and coconut oil have increased to help ease the transition.  As a result, MY figure is changing–from the texture and tone of my skin to slow but steady reduction of my double chin. This next Call wants to know all about your figure, of sorts.  Take a look…

go

I am trying to curb my collecting of all things culinary.  I moved to a smaller house to purposefully downsize in preparation for building a smaller sustainable green home in which I hope to live the rest of my life.  Passing up vintage deviled egg plates and a new pate knife pattern has reminded me that there is a reward to self restraint.  One of the rewards…I can afford to collect more art, ha. This next Call is really ALL about the collectors.  Here’s hoping they collect YOUR art…

Here’s an interesting Call for Entries from the Sylvia White Gallery (Ventura, CA) for the 2014 Collectors’ Choice.  This could be your last chance to show in this space without being one of their represented artists. Investigate for your self…

Open to all artists 18+

MEDIA: Paintings, mixed media, works on paper, photography, sculpture, installation, digital, video and performance.

Learn more about the Sylvia White Gallery!JURORS: Each art collector may select one or more pieces by artists that are not currently represented in their private collection. Collectors’ names will be kept anonymous until the opening reception. Editor’s Note: My assumption is these are collectors that purchase work in the Sylvia White Gallery. Because they are anonymous, the best recommendation I have for research is to spend some time investigate the artists the gallery represents, since in theory, it is their work these collectors are purchasing–at least in part.

AWARDS: Selected artists will participate in 2014 Collector’s Choice exhibit April 23rd to May 24th, 2014 at Sylvia White Gallery.

SALES: Unless otherwise specified, accepted works will be considered for sale at the price indicated and 40% commission will be retained by The Sylvia White Gallery.

BERRY BLUE?

How can I love blueberries IN things, but not care for blueberries on their own?  My husband makes fantastic blueberry-maple-bacon corn muffins, and I could eat my weight in them.  But, I always avoid the blueberries in my fruit cup. Weirdness. This next Call is open to weirdness–as long as it is blue.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from ArtAscent (online) for Blue, their most recent Int’l Art Competition. Make careful decisions about art publication just like you would about a gallery. CALL for ENTRIES: Art Biologic 2014

Enter the $5 Art Contest today!here a CHICKEN
there a GOAT

As I search for land for the straw bale house that my family intends to build, critters have become an issue. I am thrilled by the prospects of having chickens for eggs & goats for milk, but am I really dedicated to the biology of it all?  Do I really want to be married to the drama of a chicken coop and all the possible predators?  Do I really want to give up spontaneous long weekends due to a milking schedule?  It may BE all natural, but it doesn’t necessarily COME NATURALLY.  This next call wants your take on the art of biology, but it needn’t be all chickens and goats. Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from SlowArt Productions with Art Biologic. The entry fee is reasonable at $35. There are no media restrictions, and the awards include both an exhibit at the Limner Gallery as well as an opportunity to have your work in the nationally-distributed art magazine, Direct Art.
