CALL for ENTRIES: Wide Open Digital 2

full of
hard knocks

Unfortunately for my husband, my late Aunt Mildred has been visiting.  Not literally–that would be creepy.  The long standing joke in my family is that my Aunt Mildred never finished anything until the last possible moment.  She hemmed her daughters’ prom dresses while they were in them trying to leave for the prom, and she left all of her kitchen cabinets wide open until she was finished with dinner.  This week alone, I have left kitchen cabinets wide open 4 times.  If I lose count, I only have to count the knots on his head.  So, my family would say, “Hi, Mildred.  Thanks for visiting.”  This next Call is a far better way to be wide open.  Trust me on this one…

It is finally warm enough to be seeing a few normal tomatoes at the market.  I have suffered through a winter FULL of day-glow tomatoes that are hard as rocks and completely tasteless.  I think out-of-season growers spray them with something to make them have an appealing color, but they just end up disappointing when I get them home.  Do not disappoint the purveyors of this Next Call with a lack of color.  Investigate…

Food TV rocks.  Surprised that I would say so?  I didn’t think you would be, ha.  I like to believe I am wide open to any kind of food (and art) that comes my way, but watching shows like Chopped reminds me that my palate isn’t really challenged all that often.  This next call challenges you to be wide open to digital art.  Give ’em your best shot…

A little girl recently asked me how I could tell which food was good for me just by looking at it. (Yes, I really do talk about food all day.)  I spent a few minutes explaining that you could tell that some foods are good for you because they are deeply or brightly colored, like broccoli, swiss chard and carrots.  Without missing a beat she said, “I’m glad to know I don’t have to give up jelly beans,” and she promptly turned and left.  Perfect.  This next show is proves color can be good for you.  Take a look…
