The biggest lesson that I have learned in the past 10 years is “just because it isn’t done MY way, doesn’t mean it was done the WRONG way.”  No kidding; it isn’t directly food related although it could definitely be applied to cooking–especially baking, but I digress.  This next Call is interesting in the many ways to do one thing:  portraits.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from the Center for Fine Art Photography (Fort Collins, CO) for Portraits. This is a great opportunity for those photographers dabbling in alternative techniques and processes because they are open to it all!  Don’t miss this one…

please

Rustic food is all the rage. Country tarts offer simple ingredients in a simple package.  But I am still a sucker for elaborately top-crusted pies.  A beautiful lattice can hide the simplest of ingredients.  One of the best confections I ever ate looked like a simple pecan pie but turned out to be filled with a fudge and coconut concoction that I can still conjure in my head by simply closing my eyes.  This next call wants your illusion, be it simple or complex.  Take this chance…

Check out this Call for Entries from the Center for Fine Art Photography (Fort Collins, CO) for Illusion. This is a beautiful gallery that has repeatedly shown excellent curatorial vision. Don’t miss an opportunity to show at C4FAP!

of HOME

My mother makes the ugliest chocolate chip cookies.  They look like lumpy rocks, and as a teenager, I always longed for a mom that made Martha-Stewart-worthy sugar cookies decorated with colored sugar and dregees.  But alas, I got a mom that makes ugly cookie that may taste better than anything I have ever put in my mouth!  Home doesn’t always come in the pretty package you dream about, but it is still home.  BTW, the secret to my mom’s cookies is semi-sweet mini chips and walnuts instead of pecans.  This Call asks you to investigate what HOME means to you …good or bad.
