Are you a borrower or a buyer?  Of books, I mean?  If you haven’t been to your local library recently, be sure to stop by. Many libraries are re-inventing themselves to look much like big box book stores complete with vendors of coffee & pastries.  They often also lend music, movies and even art.  This next Call comes from a library with a full-fledged art gallery adjacent.  This is for 3-d work only…

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all U.S. artists 18+

MEDIA: Open to 3-D work in clay, metal, jewelry, fiber, leather, glass, sculpture, wood, books as art, or mixed media.  No 2-D work will be accepted.

DEADLINE:  August 11, 2017

NOTIFICATION:  August 30, 2017

ENTRY FEE: $35  for up to 3 works

JUROR:  Emily Williams creates detailed glass sculptures inspired by the natural world. Her glass sculptures explore complex plant & sea life forms.  Science & natural history have always played a strong role in her life. She began teaching sculpture in 1989 at Clarion University of PA. Over the years she has shared her passion for sculpture with her students.  Williams has received a number of grants and awards through the years, including a Fulbright Hays grant to study in Italy. Williams was awarded her M.F.A. in Sculpture from Washington University in Saint Louis, MO.

AWARDS:  Juror’s Awards will be named by the juror and announced at the Awards Reception on Sunday, November 12, 2017. These are cash awards for high-quality work.  Purchase Awards will be named by the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery and will become part of the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library’s permanent art collection. Awards are sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

SALES:  The Sabatini Gallery encourages potential buyers to contact the artist directly.  The Alice C. Sabatini Gallery & the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library receive no commission on sales.
