Today has been the hottest day of the year in my area.  Normally I would have hidden indoors for fear of having a heat-triggered, cough-variant asthma attack.  But, I ventured forth and no asthma attack. I have dropped a few pounds recently in an effort to reduce the chances of overheating this summer.  The change is my cheese-nuts-olives, free-for-all lifestyle has been dramatic but worth it.  My next goal is to get off asthma meds completely, while NOT starving to death, ha.  That’s my medical drama. MEDIA:  Open to painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, hand made jewelry, textiles & encaustic

THEME:  Anatomy is inspirational for many artists.  In this call for art, the gallery is asking for anatomical images or ideas that serve these purposes as an integral part of your work.

DEADLINE:  August 15, 2017

NOTIFICATION:  August 21, 2017

ENTRY FEE:  $20 for up to 5

CURATORS:  Jon Christopher Gernon has cultivated more than 25 years experience with the local arts scene, including 22 years as the former gallery director at Clement Art in Troy, NY. He has curated, installed & designed 100+ exhibitions of local, regional, national & European artists work.  A widely exhibited & collected artist himself, his work has been featured in more than fifty group & solo exhibitions in the U.S., Canada & Europe.

Jillian Platt has a BFA in painting from Boston University & a M.S. in medical illustration from Augusta University. Jillian has worked as a freelance artist creating illustrations & animations for editorial, pharmaceutical, surgical & legal communities for 20 years. Her work has been featured on PBS, as part of global advertising campaigns & has helped to win the highest product liability case in NYS. She recently curated 3 pop-up art shows in Troy, NY.

SALES:  The gallery will retain 30% commission on all sales.

A grocery budget surplus comes around rarely in my house, but alas, it magically appeared this week.  I was tempted to be practical and buy a back-stock of staple items.  But at the last minute, I came across tamarind pods and decided to splurge.  I’ve always wanted to make my own tamarind paste just to know if would be better than what I could buy.  It isn’t, but I can now say I’ve done it, ha.  The next Call could put a surplus in your art budget or at least help you meet your budget.  Take a look…
