PLEASE

I’ve had a few jobs and a few careers.  One that I loved more than most was as a Downtown Development Director.  I believed in the tiny town; I believe in urban renewal in rural locations (pop. 3500).  Alas, my time there was shortened to a mere 3 years.  I’ve never admitted this before, but part of my impatience with the development process was my inability to attract new, exciting food opportunities.  Really.  This next Call is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of making ART the answer.  Please investigate this FANTASTIC opportunity…

Check out this Call for Entries from Gallery Aferro (Newark, NJ) and RBH Group for Activate: Market Street.  This is a very inexpensive ($5 US) opportunity to truly get public art exposure.  So cool…

CALL for ENTRIES: SoundVision I

I want to be head of a organized food syndicate–a food gang, if you will, smuggling uni under the cover of night.  Many believe that words are defined by the user.  So, let’s take the word “gang” back from the sensationalized media coverage and re appropriate it for yumminess.  This next call wants your work as a part of a video gang.  Super cool…

Check out this Call for Entries for SoundVision I from Video Gang Collective which be held at The Shop in Richmond, VA.  There is no entry fee, but don’t delay because the deadline is Saturday, March 10th.  (If you only receive this by Email Subscription, I apologize.) Hurry…

CALL for ENTRIES: Byte Gallery in Transylvania

BE BULGAR!

I love that more exotic foods are available in virtually any grocery store.  I live in a pretty small town, but because we have a large tourist population, the grocery store selections are a little better.  With Spring just around the corner, tabbouleh salad is calling my name.  Ten years ago, I would had to have gone in search of an ethnic or gourmet market and paid $10 for a bad boxed mix.  Now it is as simple as taking a trip to my local Food City.  Once again, my food world has intersected with my art world… this Call for Entries is a great example of new ideas in art accessibility.  No invitation to this opening is necessary.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries for the 2011 Spring Exhibition at The Byte Gallery–an interactive kiosk at Transylvania University in Kentucky.  This show is free to enter, and I love the accessibility feature.
