me over

For some reason, I own a significant number of square-edged plates and oddly curved bowls.  All of my dishes are white, but what I lack in color I make up for in edges and curves.  This next Call takes color, edges AND curves.  I cannot possibly recommend an exhibit more highly than this one.  I love the people, and I proudly stand as one of them.  Please enter…

Check out this Call for Entries from The Haggus Society for the 3rd Edges & Curves Exhibition which will be held at the Altadena Library (Altadena, CA).  This $12.50 is one of the lowest entry fees you’ll ever see.  Take a look…

*Editor’s Note: In the interest of full-disclosure, loud and proud…I’m a card-carrying Hag.

FOOD

Can we talk about food porn?  I think no one will be shocked to hear that I post pictures of my food to social media.  Yes, I am one of those people.  But what I want to know is why most people highly filter their pics.  You don’t OWE it to the restaurant to make their food look better than it is.  So, are you taking pictures of your food to document a beautiful meal or fun experience?  OR, are you just trying to “one up” your friends?  Maybe food pics should just be representational of what your really see before you–kind of like this next call…

Check out this Call for Entries for the 23rd Annual National Exhibition  from Oil Painters of America to be exhibited at the the Bennington Center for the Arts. The cost is high because you have to be a member, but the show is prestigious and the prizes are huge. Make me proud…

LEMONS

There are a few culinary treasures in my home.  Goat cheese makes the world go round.  Almost any dish can be made better with balsamic vinegar.  Red bell pepper round out the taste of any dish.  Lemons are essential to virtually all dishes.  They are all small treasures that are taken for granted, until you’re out of one of them.  This next Call wants your treasures to round out their holiday season.  Love this tradition…

equal six

I used to be addicted to “snack size,” pre-portioned foods.  I thought they were the perfect solution to my portioning problem.  However, I learned that the innocent little packages led me to eating multiples.  Plus, the extra packaging and cost don’t sit well either.  So, I’m back to counting cheese puffs and Fritos® again.  Let’s hope the small size of the artwork for the next Call creates a feed frenzy too.  Check it out…
