DINNER music
My kid has moved into his dorm, and my friends are waiting for the teary, heartbroken depression to set in. I can’t promise it wont happen, but if feels unlikely. I do miss him. And, I do miss his oddities –those things that seem normal only to us & set each of us apart from the rest of the world. When my son Oscar eats his favorite foods, he hums, unaware; it is his beloved oddity. I never have to ask how he likes his dinner, I just have to listen. My husband does not hum. I miss it. ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists 18+
MEDIA: Open to all* media (*except video)
THEME: “Music. . . It motivates, relaxes, inspires, and gives us goosebumps. We can grieve with it, create to it, tap our toes to it, and sweat with it. Scientifically it synchronizes our brainwaves & can literally heal us. We tell stories through music, express emotions, celebrate through it. We can’t imagine a world without it. Show us your visual expression of music or a glimpse of how music shapes your world.”
DEADLINE: October 13, 2017
NOTIFICATION: November 10, 2017
ENTRY FEE: $20 for 1, $5 for ea. add’l. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Alexander Holmes Memorial Recording Studio and Scholarship Fund.
AWARDS: All winners will be displayed in the Cultural Center’s online art gallery at www.cultural-center.org. In addition, there are cash prizes: 1st Place – $500, 2nd Place – $200 & 3rd Place – $100 cash prize.
SALES: All sales inquiries will be directed to the artist.
