Have you ever looked at a menu so many times that you quit seeing the obvious offerings?  I get stuck in a rut with menus, ordering the same thing over & over again.  Last week I was standing in my favorite Chinese take-out staring at the back-lit menu when steamed dumplings appeared to me as though they had never been there before. How have I overlooked them for months & months?  This next Call is all about the moments surrounding the pose, the overlooked genius.  What are they missing?

Check out this Call for Entries from L.A. Photo Curator (online) for the Overlooked & In-Between exhibit. $20 entry, no shipping, plus art publication for ALL entrants.   What do you see that others are overlooking? Take a look…

Overlooked & In-Between
from L.A. Photo Curator

“I’m a huge believer that we often overlook the potential that is right in front of us. This might be because we’re trained by society to focus on what it thinks is important and separate out everything else.  We’re constantly required to go through this kind of exercise in our daily lives and become so used to it that we might be inclined to carry it over to our photography as well. A good example is the posed photograph . . . What about the moments building up to and after the shot.  Don’t these tell an interesting story as well?” –from Jeff Alu via
